Description

This is a delicious, homemade, easy-to-make applesauce you'll love.

Ingredients
  • 8 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (up to 1/2 cup to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
  1. 1

Peel and core the apples, then cut them into approximately 1/2-inch pieces.

You can use a variety of green and red apples, and leave the skin on a few for added texture, if desired.
  2. 2

Heat apples and water to boiling over medium heat; reduce heat.

Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally to break up apples until tender, about 5 to 15 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the remaining ingredients and heat to a boil. Cook, stirring continuously for about 1 minute.

    Remove from heat.

  4. 4

If desired, use a food masher or immersion hand blender to puree the apples into a smoother sauce.

Refrigerate any unused portion and enjoy within 7 to 10 days.
