This is a delicious, homemade, easy-to-make applesauce you'll love.

Peel and core the apples, then cut them into approximately 1/2-inch pieces.
You can use a variety of green and red apples, and leave the skin on a few for added texture, if desired.

Heat apples and water to boiling over medium heat; reduce heat.
Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally to break up apples until tender, about 5 to 15 minutes.

Stir in the remaining ingredients and heat to a boil. Cook, stirring continuously for about 1 minute.
Remove from heat.

If desired, use a food masher or immersion hand blender to puree the apples into a smoother sauce.
Refrigerate any unused portion and enjoy within 7 to 10 days.
