Biscuits
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegan butter (very cold)
  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter (melted)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Gravy:
  • 16 ounces vegan sausage
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups non-dairy milk
  • 1 tablespoon
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions

    For the GravyBiscuits and Gravy

    Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add two tablespoons of olive oil, then add the sausage to the skillet and break it up with a spatula.

    Cook the sausage as instructed on the package until it's golden brown.

    Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of oil and add the flour. Cook, stirring continuously for 3 to 5 minutes, until all the flour is incorporated and begins to brown.

    Stir in the water and continue to cook until the gravy comes to a boil.

    Reduce the heat to medium, and stir in the milk and the garlic powder. Bring the gravy back up to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.

    Biscuit and gravy

    Remove the skillet from the heat and serve warm over biscuits.
